Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us” (Ephesians 3:20).

There is no dream too bold, no prayer too daring, and no plan too grand for God. You can’t out-dream Him, out-pray Him, or out-plan Him. So, if God is in your plans, you ought to plan big—because He wants to do more than you can imagine. The problem isn’t that we expect too much from God, but that we expect far too little. As believers, things ought to happen in our lives that can only be explained by the power of God.

What is this “power that works within us”? Paul isn’t talking about your natural talents or personal strength, but the power of the Holy Spirit, strengthening your inner person. As Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:16, “though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.” The real action takes place inwardly, where the Spirit of God is renewing and energizing you.

God empowers you to do everything He calls you to do. It may look impossible on paper, and it may feel overwhelming in your own strength, but you’re not limited to what you can see. The Holy Spirit’s power working within you is supernatural—it surpasses the observable laws of nature and science. That doesn’t mean you reject reason; it means you live above it—by faith.

Why, then, do we so often live powerless lives? One reason is that we grieve the Spirit through sin and leave that sin unconfessed. Or we don’t do something God has clearly called us to do. Disobedience quenches the Spirit. And when the Spirit is quenched, peace disappears and power vanishes. God wants to do more than you can imagine—in you, through you, and around you. You just have to be available and obedient.

When was the last time you asked God to do something in your life that only He could accomplish? Something bigger than your bank account, beyond your ability, past your logic, and outside your control? That’s the life of faith—surrendering fully and living in the power of His Spirit. That’s when the world sees evidence that God is real, because the only explanation for your life is: God did it.
