“Walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called” (Ephesians 4:1).

The world tells us to find worth by looking within. It says, you’re enough just as you are. The Bible, however, tells us to live in a worthy manner. That doesn’t mean we have to prove we’re worth saving, but that our lives reflect how valuable our salvation in Jesus is. Living a worthy life isn’t about our worth but recognizing His worth in us. So, how do you live a worthy life?

As believers, our daily choices should consistently reflect the character of Jesus. We’re called to conform to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29) and walk as He walked (1 John 2:6). That means evaluating every thought, word, and deed in light of Jesus—adjusting anything that doesn’t look like Him. To do that, we have to rely on God’s resources rather than our own. This is where many believers struggle, trying to live a supernatural life in natural strength.

God’s expectations are based on what He’s already given us with salvation: wisdom, knowledge, and insight (Ephesians 1:17–19). In Christ, you are empowered to “live a life that exhibits godly character, moral courage, personal integrity, and mature behavior—a life that expresses gratitude to God for your salvation” (Ephesians 4:1, AMP). You don’t do this by trying harder but by walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16), depending on God’s grace and strength.

If being saved hasn’t changed your thinking, your speech, your priorities, and your relationships, then you’re not living in light of its worth. When you place a high value on your salvation, you’re not content with spiritual mediocrity. Instead, you seek to honor Christ in everything you say and do, including the things you watch and listen to. Remember, what’s happening on the inside always shows up on the outside.

God expects to see a reflection of His Son in your life. And He never asks you to do something without providing the resources to do it. But ultimately, we all do what we want to do. You’ve got to want this life. Have you settled into a spiritual waiting room, just biding time until Heaven? God hasn’t called you to wait—He’s called you to walk. The question is not whether you can live a worthy life, but will you?
