“and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15)
There’s a kind of peace the world can’t touch—and it’s meant to carry you through every challenge. The enemy would love nothing more than to keep your heart and mind in turmoil. That’s why putting on the shoes of peace is part of getting dressed for spiritual battle. Paul is talking about both having peace with God and experiencing the peace of God in your heart. But if peace is meant to be part of the normal Christian life, why do we so often live without it?
It’s true that when life feels uncertain, worry seems like the natural response. But Christians are called to live a supernatural life. Biblical peace isn’t the absence of problems—it’s the presence of God in the midst of them. His peace provides the strength to face every trial and the assurance to trust Him with every need.
The peace of God is available to every believer, yet it must be consciously “put on” each day, just like the breastplate of righteousness. Satan wants to keep your focus on the ground you’re standing on instead of the grace you’re living by. When your heart is anchored in God’s peace, you stand firm. Without it, every step feels uncertain—like walking on slippery ground.
And that’s why the enemy fights so hard to steal your peace. If he can keep you anxious and self-focused, you’ll miss seeing the spiritual needs around you. When you’re not experiencing God’s peace, you’re less likely to tell others how they can have peace with God through salvation.
Are you in a season of chaos or upheaval? Remember, tumultuous circumstances don’t have to mean a chaotic heart. The same Jesus who said, “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39 NKJV) to the wind and the waves can calm your restless thoughts today. But you must turn to Him, just as the disciples did in their storm.
So, what about when all is calm? Are you just as desperate for God in peace as you are in pain? Ask Him to keep your heart dependent on Him no matter your circumstances. Then put on the shoes of peace and go—share how Jesus has changed your life. Tell someone how peace with God begins with salvation and how experiencing the peace of God can transform everyday living.
